For sure I voted and voted for labour..as did the majority of the immigrants in this country although I was quite amused to read how a lot of chutees were going to ama voted for lib dems..apparently, they agree with their fellow immigrant mr howard that there are too many immigrants in this country…lol…I love politics in this country..an intoxicating thingytail of sex, illicit affairs, lies and murder (kelly) even though he as earned a place in histpry books, I don’t envy this dude for one second..on top of having to deal with the existing issues, nhs, pensions, crime etc etc he now has to worry about the looming recession, increase in taxes, job losses as companies shut up shop and move operations overseas

@""""""" True about the immigrant vote. Lakini some pple I jua voted conservative to stop fellow kenyans/ other immigrants coming in to kula their benefit! that sounds like mdosi lol..i cant believe the mentality of some people, its like when a kenyan starts a business people lenga coz they cant bear the thought of spending their money so as to benefit a fellow kenyan, ive always wondered why kenyans are so averse to helping each other, tanzanians ae the exact opposite, they treat each other like family and even extend this warmth and hospitality to non-tz's.. personally i dont know anyone on benefits lakini from a ex-student's point of view labour was the only choice for me, it was Blair introduced the fast-track visa application system and made it easier for guys to work while in brito..lakini i wonder what will happen if Blair bows down to calls for him to step down and Gordon Brown takes over..i dont like the look of him..he always has a smug "i know something u dont" look on his face...

I voted labour and I agree with you on this point. Tony Blair has done alot to make it easier for ex-students to land jobs and remain in this country legally. When I saw the conservative campaign it sounded more like a BNP campaign to remove foreigners from this country and I had to rally all my chute & Mero pals to go and vote labour. The only concern is that the people around Blair especially that guy Blunkett can be very militant. If he had not been removed from the Home office, there would have some radical changes to the immigration policies.... Kumbafu

Question. Do you have to be a Brit Citizen to vote or just a legal immigrant?

Question. Do you have to be a Brit Citizen to vote or just a legal immigrant? You dont have to be a British citizen. You just need to be a citizen of a commonwealth country, and registered on the voters register. There are the only pre-requisites for non-british citizens to be voters in the UK...

Really? How about legal status? Do you have to have papers as a commonwealth citizen? Nope.. they usually work on trust. Every year they just send a form for you to confirm that you are registered to vote at your address. If you are not, you just add your name to it and they will register you as a voter. It is not a difficult process to be registerd as a voter and it also helps with credit scoring cos most companies like credit cards check the register to prove if you live at your address .

Amazing. Trust!!? Over here you have to be a citizen to vote and you cant fool them cuz you have to prove your citizenship to register. You can be here legally for 10, 20, or whatever but you wont cast a vote for nobody. You guys are lucky you can steer things your way by voting for someone who champions your issues. Tony may not like immigrants but surely need the votes. Thanks bana. I learnt something.
