Dear Friend,
RE: BUDALANG’I FLOODS HUMANITARIAN APPEAL
Ababu Namwamba Foundation (ANF) is a charity incorporated in Kenya, whose objective is to support community development. ANF is currently spearheading emergency relief efforts for the Budalang’i flood victims.
Our assessment has established that the current floods are the worst to hit the area since the 1997 El-Nino. Some 40,000 people have been displaced; countless homes have been destroyed; 5 schools have closed; physical infrastructure like roads have been laid to waste; while crops, livestock and other properties worth millions of shillings now lie in ruins.
As the government and other stakeholders grapple with the challenge of finding a lasting solution to this perennial catastrophe, the children, men and women of Budalang’i are in desperate need of emergency support, including foodstuffs, medical supplies, housing materials, mosquito nets, blankets and other bedding materials.
As part of the relief effort, ANF is hosting a Humanitarian thingytail to mobilize funds and supplies for the 40,000 victims. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 12th, 2007 from 6.00pm to 8.00pm at the Tin-Tin Restaurant, KICC, Nairobi. On behalf of the ANF Board of Trustees, I invite you to kindly join us and lend a hand to the people of Budalang’i. Your prior confirmation would be appreciated. Thank you.
Most Sincerely.
